• N4SAX - Europe on 10 Watts - IC-703 - 500 Miles per Watt!

Well, here's my second installment of videos related to my "Ham Radio Habit". It's another video featuring the neat little Icom IC-703 (10 watt) transceiver. I still haven't had enough time to get my indoor Ham shack set up, so until that happens, I will be operating on the back deck. I had a musical commitment on the 8th of September but despite that I took a little time Saturday morning and fired up the IC-703. I was just curious to see if the conditions would support contacting any of the Hams operating in the "Worked All Europe" contest which was held 8-9 September 2012. I made several contacts in a short time. So I decided I would try to film the IC-703 supporting some "long haul" contacts on the 9th. Of course, part of the fun is just using this nifty little HD video camera -- it's a rather inexpensive JVC Everio which seems to do a super job. .End result: a pleasant surprise! I made a bunch of successful contacts, as you'll see in the video (11 countries!). Thanks to the GREAT weather and good HF band conditions on 15 Meters, I had a blast operating my low-power Icom IC-703 during the 2012 WAE DX Contest!. I hope you like the result! 73'sRandyN4SAX
