This is a homebrew 1500w solid-state 144MHz amplifier built by Brian, WA1ZMS.It uses two FET devices, and uses a very inexpensive 50V/50A surplus switching power supply.This Video was taken from the W2SZ VHF Multi-Multi for the ARRL Sept 2011 VHF Contest.Note the amp only requires about 2.5w drive for full output.... aprox. 30db gain.Sorry for the quality -- it was shot with my HTC Incredible in low light.Note on the name: Our old amplifier, an 8877 built by Doug Sharp, K2AD, has provided many, many years of great service. It was built just after the Chernobyl disaster, and therefore we called it Chernobyl.... I guess we had to keep the naming convention alive!73, Gerry W1V E
