| Biography W2TMR is the callsign for an Amateur Radio Club Station based in the Headquarters Camp of the Ten Mile River Scout Reservation outside of Narrowsburg, NY in the Catskill Mountains. It is operated by volunteers from the Scouting community and supported by local Hams as well as Scouting Volunteers.
Ten Mile River was founded in 1927 by then-Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt and other affluent businessmen seeking to support the Boy Scout Foundation of New York City (now called the Greater New York Council) which was using much smaller camps that were quickly being outgrown as Scouting grew tremendously in the metro area.
These visionary men put together a plan to acquire multiple parcels of adjacent land and consolidate it into what is now one of the largest and oldest Scout Camps in the US. The property is larger than Manhattan and has very diverse terrain including hiking and biking trails, wooded forests, open fields, riverfront camping, abundant wildlife, lakes, ponds and streams. It is a camp like no other. There are three operating sub-camps which each have different programs to help young boys develop into productive successful young men.

Our station is housed in the Museum building within the Headquarters Camp on Crystal Lake Road. The TMR Scout Museum is over 20 years old now and is part of the camp-wide program during the camping season (July & August) every year. Its purpose is to preserve the history of TMR from its beginnings in the early '20s and the local history that makes the camp what it is.
The purpose of the station is to help Scouts in the pursuit of Radio and Communications Merit Badges as well as offer them and the volunteer leaders a glimpse into the wonders of the Amateur Radio Service.
