Biography

Hi there,

Please take note that my call sign is an Unrestricted South African issued license, but I am not currently based in South Africa at this present time. I am currently living and situated in the USA and legally operating under the reciprocal license agreement. So please take note that i am not currently in SA but i am currently on the West Coast Of Florida, USA in the Tampa Bay area in a City called Brooksville, I mention this so that you correct your log and are not confused by the call sign and log the contact correctly. When operating in the USA my call sign is W4/ZS6I

I am 55 as of March 2022 and have had my Unrestricted Amateur Radio License since 1990's An Unrestricted ZS license would equate to an Extra license here in the USA.

I got married to my best friend and high school sweet heart in 1991. My wife Nadia and i have been married for 31 years and counting and have two grown sons, one in the Army with the 101st Airborne and another a personal Assistant to a Realtor. I myself am a Realtor by profession and Blessed as He has given me all I need for a Godly and Kingdom life smiley.

I am probably not considered the usual conventional Ham as i am not very technical I say this as i am not one to try and fix, test or build things or fiddle with the electronics side of things, I much prefer to just buy already made product and make things happen that way which i am sure does not impress the Real HAM's as thy would say. But i have to say that I absolutely love the world of Amateur Radio which like so many I started with my fascination with walkie Talkie's at a young age, then CB Radio and then went on to Radio Ham. Got my initial license in June of 1997 with first call sign ZR6GUY then later graduated to my unrestricted license with the call sign ZS6I and my reciperical license here in the USA is W4/ZS6I

I have only just recently decided to get active in the HAM world AGAIN after more than 22 years of not operating at all and absolutely no involvement or contacts or equipment. So I am eagerly looking forward to getting way more involved and operating a lot more and getting back to exciting DX and making contacts. I recently purchased a Yaesu FTDX-10 and was sadly living in a HOA and was not able to operate any formidable antenna so I waited until i could put up a tower and antenna when we moved to some acreage and NO HOA in early 2022. I do have a 43ft ZeroFive vertical antenna that i have just put up until i get my tower and HexBeam up..I have so many projects here on the house and on the land before i can get that all done. I am so super happy that we FINALLY got to purchase our beautiful property here in the awesome Historical Brooksville on 4.1 acres and need i say any more!! and Yes i am so excited to be erecting my 50 ft tower and placing my Hex Beam on top of that and finally getting back on the air! Let life finally begin. But in the meantime i will be getting started with my 43ft ZeroFive vertical antenna. I will post some pictures shortly as i am still getting settled in and it may be a while before i am able to get active due to having to get the tower set up etc. I also have installed 240vac so that i can operate my Ameritron ALS 1306 linear amplifier.
