Biography

Professional Senior Project Manager and Engineer who is always looking for new challenges to keep the interest going, and ham radio fits that bill perfectly. Currently tweaking some QRP equipment to try and get the most mileage on WSPR, QRSS and Reverse Beacons. Home QTH in Johannesburg near Sandton.

Equipment

I am a Yaesu man - one FT-857D for serious mobile work, and another FT-857D set up in the shack for digital work. Recently acquired a Flex-1500 which opened up the airwaves for me! I'm not allowed to put a beam, so a 83m long wire loop around the perimeter of the property is doing the hard work. Currently trying to tame a 7.6m (25ft) vertical aluminium tube (thought to be from a CB setup) to behave as a permanent, multiband, low SWR antenna for a beacon - a quest that seems like the impossible dream.
