Biography

I was born in 1936 in New York City and first licensed in 1994 as KB2RSD, then KG2BI and finally as WM2Z. I retired in 1994 after 38 years in the defense electronics and software business. After living on Long Island for most of my life, I relocated to Wake Forest, NC 1n 2009. I enjoy working many aspects of ham radio including rag chewing, DX, contesting, Special Events, mobile and portable operations. I am an ARRL member, and I am a certified Volunteer Examiner. My other hobbies include photography, woodworking, homebrew electronics and computers. I am a member of the Raleigh Amateur Radio Society and the NC-East Chapter of the Potomac Valley Radio Club.

I am especially interested in the use of computers in my ham radio station and have a fully integrated system capable of operating phone, CW and many of the digital modes with automated logging and remote operation over the Internet. During periods of severe weather, I run an APRS weather station reporting local weather measured by a Davis Vantage Pro weather station. This data can be viewed at http://map.findu.com/wm2z. All electronic logs, including those from contests, mobile and portable operations, are periodically posted on Logbook of the World, and I respond 100% to incoming QSLs received directly or via the Buro.
