Biography

I go by my middle name of Rocky, as there are so many Steven Smith's. I have been licensed since 1964 but had to pass the test and code again when my license expired shorty before I upgraded way back in the day. Passing the 20 WPM code test for extra was my happiest moment. I enjoy CW below 15 WPM, digital modes, and checking in on local nets when not looking for DX. All in all, I'm blessed to have the opportunity to enjoy ham radio into my older years. My wife is also a ham (KS9G) and also my son (K9CIY) who has a nice setup at his home.

Equipment

Yaesu FT-1000MP, FTDX-3000, FT-991A, FT-450D, FTM-100D, FTM-400XD, Icom IC-7300, and an Icom IC-746Pro into an Ameritron AL-811H amp. Antennas are on the simple side using an Alpha Delta DX- LBPLUS and an Alpha Delta DX-CC, both parallel dipoles.
