Biography

I've only been at ham radio for about 5 years. Over 40 years ago, I was a novice (at the young age of 14). That lasted only a year, but I lost interest. My youngest son got me interested in ham radio ago and we're both licensed now.

I've been getting into POTA--what a blast! CW is the most fun for me, but POTA is usually by phone.

Most of the time you'll find me hanging out around CW watering hole locations. I especially enjoying the friendships I've made in the Straight Key Century Club (SKCC).

I'm currently the president of the Strategic Air Command (SAC) Memorial Amateur Radio Club (SACMARC). We strive to keep the legacy of ham radio alive for the former SAC, and current STRATCOM, communities by maintaining the call sign of Gen LeMay and the call sign for Offutt Air Force Base's legacy recreational club.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

IC-756ProIII into an OCF dipole. Pretty simple. Key is a Begali Camelback straight key.

When I'm portable, I'll take my IC-706MKII for POTA activations or my HB-1B QRP rig if wanting to take a light weight outfit camping. I've tried a variety of portable antennas and really love my Wolf River Coil whip with Sporty 40 coil. I'll also throw out an EFHW for QRP operations.
