Biography

I have always been interested in Ham Radio, I have had a HF HW-100 unit for over 40 Years and did not have a license up to 2013 that I could use to transmit on it. Now I need to restring the controls because all of the belts are bad, also has one bad plastic coupler as well on A heath kit HW100. I now have the new Belts installed and I just compleated making the new 1" nylon coupling for the power shaft. seems to received just fine. now need to test out the transmit portion.

I now have added a Alinco DX-SR8 HF radio to the collection and have a long wire up in a tree back to the radio room. working with Voice some what and a lot of PSK-31, CW, using the computer to read all of the traffic in the different bands. spend a lot of time learing how to operate the radio at this point and running a long wire auto tunner made by MFJ, model number MFJ-993B, so far so good, lots of contacts at this point, at this point not using a Sound interface, that is the next project to make it better for doing the digital modes.

Also now operating on 2 meter and 70cm as well for the last two years with 2 Baofeng UV-5R Plus and a Baofeng UV-5RA I like them both. Now also have a 2m 70cm antenna off of the ground about 55 feet, the top vertical is a Ham Pro 2m/70cm colliner 17' high and the Beam is a A627013S made by Cushcraft 6m/2m/70cm tri beam. Also now have a Alinco DR-610 Radio in my car and a new Ayntone AT-5888-UV setup on crossband, VHF side is connected in the summer time to 145.470 and the UHF side setup simplex on 433.200 PL 100.0 so that I can be around town on my HT on the UHF side back to the Tri County Repeater. That seems to work out very good.
