Biography

I am Joe Lalumia and I live in Rockwall County, North Texas, USA. I enjoy three different hobbies- amateur radio, astronomy, and fishing! How's that for a combination! I always log contacts on QRZ, Eqsl, and LOTW. I always return a hard copy old time QSL card if you send me one. Return postage is appreciated

On the internet I am known as "TelescopeMan" if you Google that you will hit one of my Astronomy pages and or podcasts on the internet. Here is my YouTube site:

http://www.youtube.com/user/jlalumia

and the sites where my Astronomy & Ham Radio podcast files are stored.

I enjoy casual DXing and I am also interested in SAT communications using a hand held antenna and handi talk. Additionally I also enjoy going to our radio club and astronomy meetings and participating in the Skynet broadcasts at 9:00pm on Saturday evenings (central time) on 146.880 local repeater (the repeater is also listed on Echolink as the Dallas DARC repeater. (Dallas Amateur Radio Club) - http://www.w5fc.org/ Echolink w5fc-r

My radios are: Icom 7000, Flex 3000, ALS600 amp, Wouxum HT, and Icom 880H with Dstar mobile, an Icom 7200 and a Kenwood 281a for emergency communication in my GO kit.

I have an end fed 127 ft long wire and a Comet GP 9 for VHF UHF.

The Flex 3000 is a wonderful radio with perfect filters, making it a great receiver, and very easy to do the digital modes. I recently added an Ameritron ALS600 solid state amp for the Flex.

Using the Flex 3000 for digital modes

I bought the Icom 7000 while I was still a Technician, as an incentive for me to get my General license; which I did during the summer of 2012

Clear skies and 73 to you from North Texas, USA.
