Biography

I am in my 60's and retired, spending my days either doing domestic or yard engineering on my 3/4 acre suburban block. It's really 3 blocks under 1 title overlooking the Town of Nambour on the Sunshine Coast, sitting on the edge of a ridge at 120m ASL. We are aprox 100k from Brisbane, with excellent Long Path take off over 20k of land then the Coral sea and Pacific ocean. I would like to be higher but 120m or 400 feet is a good start, with some views through my extensive garden and trees that offer me some protection from winds.
Short Path to Europe and the Middle East is okay as well as to the North for Asia but to Africa Short Path is difficult as the Blackall Range is directly behind me rising to 400m (1300 feet) within 5km and 500m (1600+ feet) within 10km

Equipment

Radios for HF & 6m include Yaesu FTdx-3000, FT-950 & IC-9100, with a Kenwood TS-480HX in my mobile. For 2m, 70cm & 23cm I use the IC-9100 with a 12 element LFA yagi on 2m, 32 element M2 23cm & 10 elements on 70cm. I'm getting gear together to get up on EME and looking forward to that. I currently have a 2m mesh dish with septum feed, a 4m mesh dish but no feed for that one yet. I also have 2 x 1m grid reflectors set up for for 23cm with 18 to 25db gain each.
Active on HF with TH2, a vertical & OCF dipole, and on 6m with a 6el home brew LFA yagi.

2022-2023 Summer has been good for 6m FT8 with several new countries added to my list.
