Biography

I received my license in November of 2013, Basic only. In March I wrote the test again to get Honors. After that I got my hands on the old Yaesu FT-101. It worked really well, better than I knew how to run it. After going through some learning pains I was able to get a antenna in the air, from a friend of mine VA6DWN, and make a contact. After that and learning how to operate a radio I picked up a FT-857 and a Little Tarheel for the Mobile. Wow turn it on and go?? No Plate...Loading? HI HI That combination in the Mobil is unbelievable, WOW!! Really that small little antenna sure is something else.I have recently installed a FTM-400DR in the mobile as well.

A few months after, down the road, another friend of mine VE6NS, were operating and discussing QRP work. Picking up a FT-817 and a Great Lakes Vertical antenna, and again learning a bit on portable operations, we managed to make some DX to Germany and other parts of Europe. After catching the QRP bug VE6NS ups me with his beautiful KX3, well the drool was flowing then, VERY nice radio. But recently I also picked up a KX3 and sold the 817 to another fellow HAM. WOW Elecraft

For the main radio at the QTH I run a Kenwood 570D an Western HF10 and AV620. There is a 101 and a FLDX2000, and a FT-8800 in the shack too. If your driving through the City call on the local repeaters VE6VVR (145.410 -600 100HZ CTSS)or VE6HAT(146.070 -600 100hz)
