Biography
Hello,
my name is Ger and I was born, raised and still living in Schiedam, a city close to Rotterdam in the west part of The Netherlands. In 1980, at the age of 14, I bought my first CB-transceiver and made my first QSO's. Over the years the interest in this fantastic radiohobby was growing and I bought the Yaesu FRG-8800 receiver for listening to the official radioamateurs. I had a dream at that time, to become a real radioamateur myself. Unfortunately it never happened those years. And when my big fiberglass antenna broke in an autumnstorm the radiohobby even came to a standstill for about 10 years.
But the love for the radiohobby was still there and in March 2013 I decided to make my old dream come true. I started studying for the Novice license, subscribed for the exam 2 months later and the result was great. Since October 1, 2013 I now have my Novice license.
At home I use my Yaesu FT-950 with MD-100a8x microphone and I only use vertical antennas and only 25 Watt. In the field I use the Yaesu FT-897D and the HyEndFed multiband 10-20-40 antenna or really QRP with my Yaesu FT-817ND or Albrecht AE2990 handheld for 10 meter. And sometimes I'm mobile too on 10, 20 or 40 meter.
