Biography

In 1960 I got my Novice License - KN8UNP at age 13. I lived in Lakewood, Ohio at the time. Within the next year I upgraded to general class and my call changed to K8UNP. At that time I was mainly interested in rag chewing and 160 meters. I was active locally in nets and traffic handling.

Having traveled by sailboat for about 1/3 of the world, I later found that I wanted to repay many kind hams for having provided me with means to keep in touch with family and friends.

I now live in Hollywood, Fl., but used to live in Kansas City, Charleston, S.C., and the San Francisco Bay area. My interests still include phone patches for sailors, but now range from DXing to Contesting on CW, SSB, RTTY, Satellite and EME

I have travelled and contested from ZB, PJ2, PJ7, and hold KG4UN and C6AHR calls. If you go to the C6AHR page on QRZ.com you can see my operating location there.

Awards include 10 Band DXCC , No 1 on SSB and Mixed, and all but 2 on CW. I also have 5BWAZ. My latest interest is the new CQ Field award, collecting the major Maidenhead areas. There are 324 of them, and I have 224 confirmed putting me on the honor roll for that award. Most of what I have left to work are all water or frozen areas. Getting this award and keeping on top of what is left is a real lesson in geography.'

Other interests include Folk singing and playing the guitar, SCUBA diving (I used to run a dive boat), Sailing and Racing Sailboats, photography and travel.

I am now retired from my company, having worked as an NFPA Certified Marine Chemist for 30 years.

My new personal mission is to encourage people the world over to PRAY FOR PEACE in the world. Visit www.prayforpeace.info for more inormation.
