Biography

First licensed as Novice KA6PVI in 1981, upgraded to Technician in 1982. General in 2012 and Extra in 2013. Having grown up in San Francisco and served in the Navy as a Radarman aboard the USS O'Callahan (DE-1051). I made one criuse to the Tonkin Gulf and Vietnam in 1971 during the Vietnam war.

Retired from San Jose Fire Department (California) after 28 years in 2002. I served as Fire Chief for the Ben Lomond Fire Protection District from 2004 to 2010. I served 11 years as the Chief Radio Officer for San Jose R.A.C.E.S in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Married my lovely wife Mara in 1971 and we have lived in San Jose, CA and Pleasenton, CA with our three daughters. We moved to Ben Lomond in 1989, six weeks before the Loma Preta earthquake. July of 2017 we moved to Oakdale, CA to be closer to our daughters and grand children.

Located in the east-central portion of the San Joaquin Valley, adjacent to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. California State Routes 108 and 120 (Tioga Pass Road) intersect in the city.
