Biography

My name is Kevin I live in Rogerstone Newport South Wales I have been interested in radios since the late 1970s having many SSB radios over the years. I am active on most bands including 11m my callsigns are MW6KEQ 2W0KEQ & MW0KEQ. Other hobbies and interests include Genealogy, Photography, Fishing and guitars.


We have a small group on Facebook for anyone who has an interest in operating outdoors. Most Sunday mornings a few of us get together and operate form the local landmarks we mostly operate around the Newport, Cardiff, Blaenavon and the SW Valleys. For portable work I mostly use my Yaesu ft-897D and my Ampro mono bands I find them quick easy and they work very well. I also use full size G5RV or a long wire both with a 10m mast. Equipment

I have a variety of radios i use including a Yaesu FT-450D FT-897D FT-7900 FT-2900 FT-60 VX-170 FTM100DE Digital Dual Band Mobile. I also have a growing collection of Chinese handhelds. I use a M0CVO wire antenna and a full and half size G5RV and a HF10. For 10 & 11 meters i use a Sirio Gainmaster. My antenna tuners are LDG YT-450 Autotuner & LDG Z-11 Pro11 Autotuner & Kenwood AT230 Manual Tuner.
