Biography

Although I am not so young (born 1949) I am a relatively new Radio Amateur. I got my FULL GB licence in October 2013 and started working on HF 18/09/14 after my friend George loaned me his TS440S and an ATU. I have worked all HF bands except 50m & 30m and so far I have found no use for UHF(I have a handheld 4W dual band VHF/UHF).

In June 2014I bought my own rig: a Yaesu FT857D and ATAS 120A which I mostly use from my Motorhome (Geronimo). This offers both 50m and 6m as well as 2M & 70cm. With the new rig I have added 6m QSOs to my logbook.

Using Geronimo I have done quite a lot of Mobile working in Wales and England. My longest DX so far with the mobile set-up was VK3MO Ian Williams near Melbourne on 20m.

I like to send QSLs via e-mail since these can be more precise and are tailored to the exact circumstances and operating QTH.
