Biography

Hello
A little bit about me.........I have been a licensed ham radio operator since June 2000. I have been interested in radio since the early 70's, started off on 11m's,Only on SSB as I was not interested in AM, worked the world but always wanted to become a licensed ham but with work and this past number of years disability, although being disabled (due to accident at work) I was able to pursue amateur radio having a disability I have had a lot more time. I started off with the call MI1ROB in June 2000, in November 2000 I got my existing call-sign MI5RJS and the rest is history. I am one of the very few ham operators that still holds the MI5 call sign in Northern Ireland at the moment as many changed to MI0 when the cw requirement was done away with.
I live about 15 miles (24 kilometer) south east from the city of Londonderry in the North west coast of Northern Ireland with my wife Linda also a Radio amateur (MI3RIL).
We are out in the countryside surrounded by farm land the nearest neighbor is around 200 meter's from our house, so no problems erecting Antenna's Hi Hi.
My other hobby is Remote Controlled model aircraft mostly building them although I only like building or I should say rebuilding model Electric Helicopters, I also build remote controlled electric quad-copter's starting from the frame up to a flying craft, very enjoyable I have to say when you see it flying correctly as it should and really the radio control side is still working with radio with the transmitter and receiver to control the aircraft usually on 2.4GHz.
Thanks for reading if we have had a qso Thanks if not hope to work you soon 73
