Biography
First licensed 2010, the foundation license was taken at my local radio club Bury radio society.
After a successful examination result I went straight in to the intermediate course, the examination was taken approximately 8 weeks after the foundation examination, and again resulted in a pass.
After a short break the club then started the advanced course, the course was attended by 6 students and run every other week.
Due to a pre-booked holiday i was unable to take the exam with the other course members, but of the 4 that took the examination 3 passed not a bad result!
Another examination date was set, but again and this time due to work commitments i was unable to attend.
Anyway after a lot of swatting to refresh the grey matter I took the examination at the 2011 RSGB convention, it was a 400 mile round trip but it was worth it as I passed, so I am now licensed as M0YYA.
I owe a great deal of gratitude to Norman G1HHU who guided me through all 3 courses.
Also i would like to thank the other members of Bury Radio Society, especially Sergeant major Gilbert G3OAG and Keith G3RTU who are a fountain of knowledge and experience, and are invaluable to a newly licensed radio ham.
In my work life outside of ham radio I am a C&I design engineer, primarily designing electrical automation systems for a wide variety of applications.
My main interests in radio are HF data modes, home brewing antennas (currently building a 5 band broadband hex beam), I also have a simplex echolink node on 70cms as 2E0GAO-L.
Hope to see you soon on my waterfall.
