Equipment

My radio station consists of a Vertex Standard, Yaesu FT-847,and a Yaesu Musen FT-991.(microphones include a MH-31b8 handheld and a MH-36e8j DTMF hand held microphone, converted from a modular to a round, 8-pin jack, to fit a FT-847 and the same hand held MH-36ej with a modular jack for the FT-991 / or a Heil proset 5, head set and boom microphone ). The VHF 4m amplifier is a TARP4SB from Spectrum Communications and the 2m is a Microset SR 200. The HF is a Linear amp UK. Ranger 811H. Antennas are a Carolina Windom 160 special for mf & hf. A vertical Hygain DX 88, ground mounted for hf. And a FORCE 12 YAGI, XR6-11 from Innovation Antennas. The XR6-11 works on the20/17/15/12/10/6 meter bands and has 11 elements. It is rotated by a Spid-Rak, Azimuth rotator. The XR6-11 is mounted on a mast, supplied and built by CUG Mast Solutions. The mast is 12 meters high when fully extended. The lower 6 meters is tilted by a winch, and the higher 6 meters is wireless remote controlled, so it can be elevated from in the shack. The outer mast is 90mm x 90mm and the inner section is 80mm x 80mm. The Mast is fully galvanised and is mounted is a sleeve which is concreted into the ground by approximately half a cubic meter of cement sand and gravel. At this point I would like to thank Gary, MM0CUG of CUG MAST SOLUTIONS for installing the mast and the XR6-11 FORCE 12 Antenna. The Antennas are Transmatched by a Palstar AT-2KP. There are also roof mounted verticals, Panorama-Antennas BSV-E3 for 4m and a Watson 2000 vertical for 6m+2m+70cms. The transceiver is powered by an Alnicos DM-330MW PSU.

All sound card Digital and voice modes are supported by the Tigertronics Signalink USB.

I live in what is known as the debatable lands on the English/Scottish Borders.

If you look at my address above and zoom out on the map, ( in detail section ) you will notice that the hamlet of the Bailey is in England. However I have a Scottish post town and zip code (post code). You could say, today even in the 21st century I still live in the Debatable lands.

DX Code Of Conduct

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
