my station ground is a 12 inches deep filled with rock salt and a 4x4 foot piece foot copper plate, covered with imported soil and kept damp. I am on solid rock and the ground is seashells from Noah's flood I believe, so no dirt at the shack.

My Hex beam is now up and I can run 100 to 700 watts or less on CW and 700 watts SSB first station was Italy cw rpt 559 so hey that’s good for the Hex Beam increased my signal by anywhere from 2 to 3 s units on all the reports I have received so far, with a couple of 20 over S-9s in a short time it's been up. The photo was taken form the back yard which is another 15 or 20 feet lower than the beam which places the beam higher still than the ground level where my station is placed. The oak tree behind the beam is at about 70 feet above the house at ground level.

The last, 2 beams I had were 2 element quads one 17, 15, & 10 meters home brewed from a hub & fiberglass tent poles. The other was a 2 element 4 band modified Gem Quad. I made the bloomless section 18 inches longer.

I later put it in a diamond configuration rather than cubical, It performed better than a square to by adding some vertical component to my signal, which helped with working those with ground mounted vertical's and mobiles & in my experience, and less QSB with a more a narrow beam width Than before, It was at 35 feet most the time, but I did not detect any difference with the exception of earlier and later band opening and closings, which for me was not an issue as I only operate about maybe 1 &1/2 hours at a time I am not a contestor nor a dx'er

I finally got around to retyping and correcting, my Biography. I also corrected the placement of the balloon on the map and satellite location, mine was off by several miles

I am 74 years old now In Jan. 2012, Born on the farm in the Panhandle of Texas and I grew up very poor, if you've ever seen the movie "THE GRAPES OF WRATH" That was my childhood. We were still suffering the effects of the depression and the dust bowl days in Texas in the year I was born. Now looks like hard times are coming again.

In 1939 My family traveled from Texas into California with 6 children working in the fruits and vegetables to support ourselves, living in the work camps and following WW2, we lived in the Japanese Internment camps, the buildings were made out of Asbestos "In case the Japanese attempted to set fire to them, I probably qualify for some for something if I ever get lung cancer, NO THANKS! All 6 children in my family worked. The Farmers made us use social security number of our parents for with withholdings, which later I supposed aided our parents with a higher wage on Social security in later years.

I remember sitting on a cotton sack as my mother pulled it along the rows of cotton and I picked what she missed. I rarely attended school any more than a few weeks to a few months before moving on. Which caused me to my fall behind in school year after year. When I got to big for the 6th grade after being held back a number of times they put me up to high school, completely missing the 7Th and 8Th grades! Boy that helped a bunch. My 4-year-older brother was smaller (shorter) than I and one year we were in the same grade that's how far he had fell behind, didn't make sense to hold us back then put us forward! They still do that today, that's really dumb, and don’t you think? These so-called Educators could have made a better decision. There are kids today graduating from high school that still can't read! Why? America.

I finally dropped out of high school and went into the U.S. Army Reserves in 1956 at the age of 17, 1/2 years old and went to food Service School and remained a cook until I went to work in the California Department of Corrections, |The State Prison At C.M.C .in San Luis Obispo. They gave me educational credit for my work experience. And hired me that same day. The pay was low in those days as they couldn't find people to work in Prisons then, the pay was low and I actually went to work wearing my US ARMY UNIFORM with the patches removed!

My old Boss hired parolees as dishwashers where I worked as a cook and I supervised them when I became manager of the restaurant. The prison felt I'd make a good dining room officer, (only the toughest job in the joint I later found out) which I said was right up my ally and I did become a dining room officer for about 8 years, serving 600 inmates each meal in 45 minutes, with 75 inmates as workers, cooks and food handlers.

After I finished my probationary period, I went to night school and finally completed my High school Education in 1967 then went to Junior college, but for the most part I am self-educated. Once I had learned to read! Which was until the6Th grade, which I can thank a teacher (Mrs. Rich) that kept me after school every day and made learn to read WELL, GOD BLESS HER! She built a fire in me and it burned away I read everything I could get my hands on! All of Zane Grays westerns lots of history westerns and once I could read I educated myself. I loved history and general science, and the Bible.

I retired at age 57 as a correctional lieutenant in 1994 after 28, 1/2 years with the department. I was the Institutional Inmate Assignment Lieutenant the last 5 years of my career.

Now, The Good Lord opened the doors of opportunity, all I had to do was walk through. I failed to tell that I had turned my life over to Christ in prison as a Lieutenant that is no easy task to walk into prison and tell everyone you just accepted Christ. That's not the thing your fellow correctional officers wanted to hear. They felt you couldn't be trusted to back them up when they were in trouble, Mostly of their own making! They just did not get it!

My older two brothers and 3 sisters all did well in life without any government help. They have all passed away now except one sister, who is 6 years older than I. ONE BOTHER DIED AT AGE 80 YEARS AND STILL COULD NOT READ or WRITE NO ONE EVER KNEW BUT HIM! He made a very good living as a heavy equipment operator owning he own grader, working on dams highways and bridges.

I had an older brother and a sister that failed to accept Christ before they passed away, But most my family were saved during their life, the eldest brother, the day prior to his death The one who couldn't read he had the good sense to tell his wife call me a preacher! , Then died after accepting the Lord

My older sister also accepted Christ weeks, just prior to her death, just in time! Praise God!

I have committed the past year to becoming a more proficient CW Op, so if you hear me on CW struggling to copy in my head and making a few mistakes sending with one of my 2, Iambic paddles my hands shake and bump I the paddles now and again, Why don't I use a straight Key so I won't bump the paddles, BECAUSE IT HURTS TO BAD! Arthritis in the Thumbs and hands

I earned my Novice in 1978, again I was self educated in ham radio too except for a novice class. I took the test and upgraded to general and then advance.

When I was promoted to Sgt. at the prison it was the same week that I also upgraded to "GENERAL” HAM ticket” as ka6ccv. Hey, I wonder how many guys ever did that, Sgt. to GENERAL in the same week! Hi Hi

Breakdown of service as Correctional Officer beginning June 28, 1965, 1st promotion Oct, 11, 1974 from officer to Correctional Program Supervisor 1 then correctional Sergeant April 1 1979, and finally Correctional Lieutenant Jan2 1984 and retired Feb. 1994 281/2 years at age 57.

I like to rag chew on CW and have given up SSB for the time being. Most my CW QSO'S are 1/2 about hour or more. I can handle up 25 wpm, if the other op has a good fist and spacing.

The hardest copy for me is a, with the short Bug, with the very short dits and long dahs. Why do so many ops send DIT DAHHHH Dit, for and R when they are actually sending E -T- E instead! My turn to be critical.

I know my fist has some problems and I am trying my best. Sometimes I get ahead of myself, and leave out a letter or place one ahead of another I need to work on my hand writing to I can't read my copy the next day I need to start trying to us a mill or keyboard for copy.

In High school I was failing typing class in I was taking but instead of an "F” which is what I Earned, they instead gave me a passing grade of "D" because I refused to take another elective when they offered it. I asked to stay in the class because I wanted to learn to type.

Well I never learned very well, as you can tell if your one of those who can type very well, but The what little I learned has been useful all my life and guess what? I am still learning. So will you give me a "D" for trying! Or will you fail me for trying?

My copy is far better than my sending. It's generally the other way around they say, but have you also heard "THEY WHO CAN'T, TEACH!" Well sorry I worn out a lot of teachers. I am well aware of my faults I Listen to tapes of myself and know the faults I have. I have been trying to copy in my head more and write less now taking more notes rather than just writing it all down.

Why did I add all this? Well recently a couple ops I met on the air asked why I still use a pencil, HUH? Why I don't you use QSK? I have to lay down a pencil move to a key and back again, and takes time and before I can pick up the pencil and copy these guys they’re way down the road so I won’t use QSK till I can get 99% in my head.

So Next time I'll direct them here and save all the effort of trying to explain on the air. With my education and back ground I should have never have even been able to become amateur radio operator in the first place, but I was determined to be a ham and By the grace of God I made it.

Never let anyone discourage you in your task of growing in the hobby it gets better every day.

We are all "Amateurs" It's after all a Hobby! Is it not? Like it or not, you who think, your professionals are still just legally called an "Amateur" that makes me feel right at home with all you that are Electrical engineers or space cadets at NASA and the like. You are to be admired, but remember when you’re on the air your still just another Amateur here on radio. That’s great! Keeps us all equal, calling us all Amateurs was a great idea, and keeps us all humble.

You'll grow old before you have seen them all. Watch for any titles dealing with The Gospel of grace vs. the Gospel of the kingdom or the Gospel according to Paul. Then you'll be prepare to have the whole bible opened up to you as never before even if you are a Minister and have a bunch letters after your name. You not beyond learning what you missed it in college! Go ahead I dare you! Find him wrong. I don't believe you can. But you will come away with a whole lot of newly discover truth you never knew before.

I will say the first video you should watch is Through the Bible with Les Feldick - YouTube just to give you a glimmer of what is ahead for you. You can also find les under "Les Feldick today" he is all over the web on face book also so look him up.

It is on direct TV channel 367 network WHT Called “Les Feldick” thru the Bible, on two net works WHT and GEB Its on every day for ½ hour at 8:00 am, set your TVO or DVR to copy it or do a search on the web for Lesfeldick.com. And listen to the audio version.

He does not ask for Money he does not wear a tie, he talks slow; show the Bible verses as he reads the scripture. He is A Oklahoma Cattleman not a minister dare to say be has more true bible knowledge than any man I have ever listened to.

The show is ½ hour long about 27 minutes is the actual program. The public attends it, it is Non-Denominational non-sectarian he never teaches against any other faith or religion just Bible & Bible alone.

He tapes his programs once a week for total of 4, 1/2 hour segment so, you will see him in the same shirt 4 times and the same audience. Most are regularly in attendance. You will have time to follow along in your own bible and have time to mark your bible or take notes.

I sometimes go back and watch it over or reverse back to a point he has brought out to fully document it in my Bible in fact I have a specially Bible with large type and room for more text just for his program.

I cannot stress this more than just watch him one week you’ll be amazed at how much you will learn in such a short time. His program has made me able to fully understand how to Truly Rightly divide word of God for the first time in my life I have a truly working knowledge of the bible and how to understand the whole bible.

I have been watching him for 2 years now.

Also all his tapes, booklets are made up by volunteers and sold at cost of production. This is not your normal television religion show! It is simply a straight forward and honest, no fancy hair or clothing.

1. The 10 basic laws for interpreting the bible.

When the plain sense of scripture makes common sense, seek no other sense; therefore, Take, every word at its primary ordinary literal meaning… unless the immediate context, studied in the light of axiomatic (self evident ) and fundamental truths, indicate a figurative or symbolic meaning.

Corollary: (a natural consequence or result) The Bible means what it says and says what it means. It is to be understood literally, except when obvious figures of speech, except where (metaphors, similes etc. are indicated, (in Scripture).

This does not preclude careful study or Original languages, Greek or Hebrew words for clarity of meaning.

2. The law of Contextual Mention.

Every Scripture must be interpreted in its Historical setting and in its grammatical context with attention that it is speaking? And who to! This is of UTMOST IMPORTANCE to determine. To whom the message is given or written to. Is it Israel or the Church, or Israel, Christian, or Jew? It is or Gentile, and under what actual conditions. YOU CANNOT CLAIM VERSE OR A PROMISE UNLESS IT IS WRITTEN TO YOU. IF FOR EXAMPLE IT IS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT IT BELONGS ONLY TO ISRAEL AND THE JEW. Never blame the Lord for not keeping a promise. He never made to you, see how important it is to know to whom scripture is written to!

Corollary: Every verse should be considered in the context of its paragraph and in the section of the chapter in which it appears within the book or in the division of scripture where it is recorded.

A text without a context may be a pretext. (Parts directly before or after a word, sentence etc. that may influence it’s meaning)

3. The law of first mention.

We may expect the first mention of a subject or truth to forecast its treatment throughout the scriptures.

4. The law of full mention.

We may expect a rather full and complete treatment of every subject vitally connected with basic doctrine and consecrated living in a major passage of or section of scripture: in some one place in the SCRIPTURE, God reveals his full mind on any one subject

5. The law of Progressive Mention.

From the first mention of a subject to the last mention there is a progress of Doctrine; yet the first to the last mention indicate what is between, and the intermediate matter is found to be fitly joined together.

6. The law of comparative Mention.

To compare scripture with scripture is vital to understand everything about a given truth; all occasions in scripture where a subject is mentioned should be considered to arrive at the total truth.

7. The law of Illustration.

For most truths God give one classic illustration to carry the truth home to the heart and mind of the believer.

8.The law of double reference.

The law of double reference is principal of associating similar ideas which are usually separated from one another by a long period of time, but may be blended in a single picture initially (the suffering of Christ and the glory that should follow), and in which an historical past event may illustrate a future event.

9. The law of spiritual application.

Since the timeless word of God is filled with truth, principles and ideas that were originally relevant to other ages and Dispensations may be applied to people today, since “whatever was written was written aforetime for our learning that we through patience and comfort of the scripture might have hope.”

10. The law of the Master Key Christ himself is the MASTER KEY to understanding scripture, for he is the SUPREME SUBJECT in FACT, SYMBOL, HISTORY and PROPHECY for all the word of God: therefore expect to find him in all Scripture.

My main rig as a cw op is the ICOM-703 qrp and a Elecraft K1 both qrp or qro at 100 watts with a 100 watt amp they most enjoyables and versatile with antenna tuners and programmed messages when needed one push of a button and you have a short qso! but i prefer a 45 minute ragchew any day over a contest or dx see you on 7.030 or 14.030 where you find me most often

#2nd station is in the family room near the fire in winter and air conditioner in summer, is a IC-703, with 100 watt amp available to a delta loop for 40 thru 10 meters at 65 feet only band it does not load up on is 17 meters.
