Biography
Dear friends,
I live about 30 km north of New York City in the Lower Hudson Valley, a historic area that played a role in the US War of Independence. Our side suffered a major loss to the Brits in the Battle of White Plains about 5 km north of here.
At the moment I'm active from 10 to 80 meters (SSB, FT4 and FT8). When my station would otherwise be idle I run WSPR, transmitting 2 W when I'm at my QTH (I work mostly from home, so that's most of the time). Occasionally I join one of our local 2 m traffic nets or play around with DMR.
I've been fascinated by radio my whole life. In my college days I worked at the campus radio station and then in commercial radio for several years, but didn't get my ham ticket until 2022. When I'm not doing radio I develop software for a global telecommunications company.
I grew up on the other side of the continent in California but have lived in New York since 1973. I love to travel and in the past few years have visited Portugal, Germany and the Czech Republic. Hope to add the Faroe Islands sometime soon. I have a wife and two grown daughters who live in New York City and Washington DC.
73 from New York and hope to talk to you soon.
