| Biography First licensed at age 15 in 1963 as WN8HBS and then WA8HBS in 1964 (I had to go the the Detroit FCC field office to take my general exam before a FCC engineer!). After college I started with Bell Telephone Laboratories in Naperville, IL engaged in R&D for telephone switching systems. Naperville is located about 25 miles directly west of the Chicago Loop. Got re-licensed in 1980 while working in Columbus, OH. I moved back to Naperville in 1985. Currently an adjunct professor of mathematics at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL. Ham activities include casual DXing and contesting (hunt and pounce!). HF station is the Elecraft K-line, including the K3S and KPA500. Current HF antenna is a multiband end-fed 133 foot wire in a horizontal-vee configuration up about 25 feet. Also have 2m/70cm capability for the Chicago area repeaters.
