Biography

I Have been interested in "HAM Radio" for over 60 yrs., but I guess I was to busy making a living to get involved with Amateur Radio.

I was in Japan in 52 & 53 with the Army in Metorology and spent a lot of my off duty time observing in a Ham Radio Shack on Johnson Air Base in Japan {KA2GU}. Talked to my wife a couple of times from KA2GU with a Phone Patch from Offit Air Force Base, Omaha, Neb. to Neodesha, Ks. while in Japan in 53. As Radio's weren't plentyful in 1952-53 in Japan, I had a good friend that said why don't you BUILD yourself a radio. Well I said I don't know where to get the parts. He said the next time we go to Tokyo we will pick up the parts. So we got the parts and I put them together and I had an AM Radio to listen to.

Later when I got my License I got a little 2 Meter Amplifier kit from Ten-Tec and built the amplifier. Lots of fun and still enjoying "HAM RADIO" in my retirement. The World's "GREATEST HOBBY". "HAM RADIO The Original Social Media"

Worked as a Machinist and Mechanic in the Aircraft Industry & Petroleum Pipeline Industry most of my life, retiring in June of 93.

A good friend Ed, [AB0LE] got me interested in getting my HAM License. Got my ticket [Tech] in June of 96 while recovering from a 7 1/2 Hr. back Surgery. Upgraded to General in May of 07. I am an ARRL Member and a VE. My PC is a Dell, OS XP with Ham Scope and Little Rascel Interface on PSK 31.

I am active on 2 Meters, 70 centemeters, on a J Pole. HF and Echolink, [ Node #79036] and a little bit of SSB. My Shack includes an 2-Icom 207 H for Base & ,Mobile, Yeasu VX5 HT, Radio Shack HTX202 HT on 2 meter, and an Icom 751A on PSK 31 with a 120" Doublet up about 35 ft through an LDG Z-100 AutoTuner. Also recently got a like new 718 Icom to use on SSB. Great little Radio.

Lately been working quite a bit of PSK 31 on 14.070 which is an interesing Mode and I really enjoy it. Easier than Phone with the severe hearing loss that I have. I reply by eQSL or Direct with SASE. Looking forward to increased Sun Cycle activity in the future.

I have been a member of the Masonic Lodge for 55 yrs. now and am a Scottish Rite 32'nd degree Mason, really enjoy the good fellowship.
