Biography
I was first licensed in 1993 as N9VGV and entered ham radio as a No-code Technician. The next month, I upgraded to Tech Plus. Six months later, I received my Advanced license. My Extra class license came about 2 years later.
My other interests are Flying airplanes, playing the bass guitar, building rifles and fiddling around with electronics.
Im a life-member of the ARRL and a member of SMC (Society of Midwest Contesters).
When I travel to Australia to see family, I am VK1KJ while down there.
I have recently found that working DX in the car is very satifying and passes the time. I drive over 1 hour each way to work, so you may find me on CW in the car either working DX or trying to get my WAS as K9KJ/M. I have a Yaesu FT-100 and ATAS-100 for this.
I have a Yaesu FT-847 for VHF/UHF and a Yaesu FT-1000MP-Mk-V for HF. I love CW and dont use Phone unless its a VHF/UHF contest. Im active on JT65, MSK144 and FT8 Modes on 6M.
