Biography

I was first licensed in Spain in the early 80's as EA1BMM (I still hold it) and after moving to the US, I decided it was time to get a call sign from my adoptive country. (KG6NDO) Then, through the Vanity program, I got K6EGF.

DX is my favorite operating activity although I also enjoy Sat. communications and digital modes once in a while. So far I've got DXCC (Mixed, Phone, 10m., 15m.and 20m.), WAS, WAC, WAZ, IOTA 100,plus a contest here and there. My next goal is to achieve 5BDXCC. It'll be difficult but I'm working on it, propagation permitting.

I'm an active member and exercise co-chairman of the Contra Costa County Sheriff's RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service).

My base station consists of: (HF) Kenwood TS 2000, Kenwood TS 440 SAT, Yaesu FT 101ZD (line), Ameritron 811H, Kenwood TL 922A, Carolina Windom 80, Mosley TA 33 HF beam (10-15-20m.), Ham II rotator, Cushcraft AP8A (HF Vertical), Kenwood MC-60 Microphone, Heil (dual element) Microphone,Kenwood TM V71A(vhf / uhf), Elk antenna (2m. Beam), Cushcraft (440 Beam), 6m Vertical and antenna tuners etc. I also enjoy mobile operations on HF. I use an Icom IC 706 MK II and a Little Tarheel screwdriver antenna.
