| Biography Like many Hams, I got my first exposure to radio communications with CB radio in the early 80's and have been fascinated by it ever since. In 2010, after over 20 years out of radio completely, I finally got my Tech ticket. I received my General early in 2011.
My active rig in the shack (apartment) is a Kenwood TS-480sat into various Chameleon antennas . Other gear that lives in the gun safe is a Yaesu FT-857D and an FT-817nd.
On my desk is an FT-897D used for digital.
Currently, I am experimenting with magnetic loop antennas.
My Photo was shot aboard the USS Cavalla, a World War II submarine now land locked in Seawolf Park on Pelican Island in Galveston County, Texas. In the past a group of us would activate the Sub and the USS Stewart, a Destroyer Escort for Museum Ships Weekend. This year, 2014, we operated from Fort Travis Park on the Bolivar Peninsula which is within sight of the two warships.
