| Biography My name is Tim a relatively new amateur radio operator (sense 2012). I earned my Extra class license at a Ham In A Day on May 30th, 2015. The more I learn about this hobby the more interesting its becoming. Proud father of two Great kids - Daughter who is amazing on a horse and keeps me busy with horse shows, and a Son (W3AMS) who has also earned his General license and shares in my love for radio, and a great wife who tolerates all the Antennas'. I got into the hobby because of two grandfathers: one who started running radio trucks in the army and moved into a career in TV, and a grandfather who was really involved in the early years of CB (KID3627) radio and bought me my first Monarch shortwave radio. A dad who always had a scanner running in the house and car. And the best Electronics Instructor and Mentor I know - Gene Lang (K3PSI), who really introduced me to this fascinating hobby / addiction. Presently, I'm a VE with the Laurel Amateur Radio Club with our local BSA Venture Crew 73 here in Warren, PA. I'm the current Electronics Instructor (22 years) for the Warren County Career Center, Warren, PA. To date I've had 26 students I'm proud to say have earned their Amateur Radio license. I'm one of the founders of the Kinzua Amateur Radio Club (K1NZA), a group that was organized primarily for the licensed and non-licensed students in my classroom. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
