Biography

Hello, I’m Donato, I was born in 1961 in Foggia, in Southern Italy and I have lived for over thirty years in Vittorio Veneto, a charming city 60Km up North to Venice. I’m in the Italian Army, I’m a warrant officer. I’m married and I have two daughters. My passion for the radio has started since 1973 when at the age of 13 I bought my first radio station on citizen band, a table CB PONY SOMMERCAMP, 23 channels AM, that is still working and I hold it jealously. I was immediately kidnapped by the fascination of the radio and by the possibility that this amazing invention gave to me, overcome the obstacles of the communication by air, speak with a lot of people hundreds miles away is an unbelievable experience. With thepassing years and after hundreds of hours passed in front of the radio, sleepless nights, thousands links and QSLs received from all over the world, in 2000 I became a SWL (Short Wave Listeners) and immediately after I promise myself to become a radio amateur.
The years passed quickly and my activity with the radio continued but due to work and family obligations I always postponed the exam to the next year. It was only in 2010 when I started to study hard, and in 2011 my dream became true getting the radio amateur license (A class) and the subsequent license with the IZ3VDA nominative. Today I can say I’m very proud, I like operate on VHF and UHF also using the large number of radio’s bridges existing on the territory, I like HF so much and I appreciate new technologies such as PSK31 - RTTY and Ecolink.
Dear friends I thank you for visiting my page, and I hope to listen to you on the frequence.
