Biography
Hi and thanks for viewing this site. My name is Erno. I live in Budakalász about 1 km north of Budapest. This small town is surrounded by Mountains and the River Danube, in a beautiful green environment.
I have been interested in electronics and radios since my childhood. In 1956 I was 13 years old, I had already known the Morse code. I became a member of the Budapest Radio Club in 1961. I worked at Club station, HA5KDQ as an operator.
I've had my callsign since 1961. I was very active as HA5DB on the bands at that time. I took part in some contest. I have made 30-35.000 QSO up to now. But I more interested in the building receivers and transmitters. I made some homebrew transceivers and antennas and wrote some articles in RÁDIÓTECNIKA periodical. For a long time everybody has had a callsign in my family: HA5DB me, HG5YB my wife, HA5KE my son, HG5WB my daughter.
I had to work hard and I was not active on the bands for a long time between 1989-2009.
Recently, I am active on the bands again. I am using the new DIGI modes. I retired in 2006 and have just a bit more time. But have to find time for my 5 grandchildren, the garden and social works and my own radio museum, and some web pages. When I have more time, I travel the world with my wife or spend time with family and friends.
I'm a member of the ARRL and EPC (The European Phase Shift Keying Club) # 17849 and I am a member of the various Digital Modes Club. I have some Amateur Radio Awards, Diplomas, Goblets and plaque.
My station is an old Yaesu FT757GX with antenna tuner, Yaesu FT-290 with 25 W power unit. Some GP and simple sloped dipol antennas.
