Biography

Got my callsign 1981 and was active for a a number of years, having a young faimly at the time and work made it a little difficult to operate, time moves on and here we are in 2013 and I'm rebuilding the shack. I bought a Funcube dongle just to see if I could rekindle my interest and guess what it was like being reborn. I'm still testing my options and all is going well for now so lookout for me on the air, mainly VHF however with a new antenna HF is growing on me.

June 2015, SDR has really got to me and have installed a Flex 6300

October 2015 upgraded to Flex 6700, what an amazing SDR transceiver.

Trying to master HF digital modes, great fun.

Sept 2016 now have a Maestro touch screen interface to drive the 6700.

January 2017 installed a Kuhne 2 mtr low level drive linear running off the 6700 transverter port, now have 60 watts out on 2 mtrs.

March 2017 finally got the HF endfed installed, amazing!

May 2017 Re joined Burton Radio Club G3NFC again after a long absence.

June 2017, 2 mtrs, installed a new horozontal 5 ele beam, rotator plus a new (old) valve linear SAGRA 600 which will run all day long at the legal limit, also keeps the shack warm.

September 2017 have a supply of 4CX250B transmitter valves and they are listed on eBay, single tube, matched pair, fitted new valves to the linear and it's amazing just how much better it runs now, thanks Geoff G8EKG for your assistance.

Installed SPE 1.3KFA Amp with ATU November 2017, amazing kit, it talks to the rig via CAT and just follows me around the bands, this linear will run the legal limit all day long.

December 2016 fitted new HF balun and choke, all good now.

Well it's January 2018 and now finally have WSJT X up and running on FT8 with automatic logging, love this mode and will be trying out a few more digital modes soon.

December 2017 installed a better HF endfed.

Working on converting my rotator for remote operation and finally getting the VHF beam installed outside on the house.

August 18 2 meter beam installed on rotator which now has full remote control via ERC controller and PST software.

December 2018 installed a Gemini 2 1.2kw LDMOS 2 meter linear, just simply runs at the legal limit all day long without any issues, it's great to have loads of headroom with very little fan noise, 5 star linear.

Well it's Jan 2020 and have just installed a Tonna Pro 9 element beam andall looking good.

Please confirm contacts via QRZ or LoTW thanks & 73's

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
