Biography

Hello and thanks for looking,
was always interested in radio from being a boy, left school in 1959 and went to sea on trawlers as a Galley lad to earn some money so i could attend Nautical College to obtain my Ships radio marine licence.I was lucky because the sparks on board the ship i was on, taught me a lot of things including the morse code etc and many other things,he really encouraged me,a fantastic fellow and i will never forget him.

I finally started at the Nutical Radio school in 1961,and gained my PMG radio licence in June 1962,after several trainee trips on Deep water fishing vessels, sidewinders and stern freezer vessels up in the North Atlantic,Iceland,Geenland and the Barents Sea,with a qualified R/O,i finally went solo,a ship called the Northern Sea/GKKR and did this for the next 14 years.Later the fishing fleet at Grimsby was made redundant(we shall never see their like again)wonderful sea ships in every way.

I then went on Foreign Flag vessels, mainly Greek Flag.General Cargo and Bulk Carriers,a totaly different lifr to what i had been used to (pure luxury)enjoyed every minute of it seeing the world,a big contrast from the cold rough North Atlantic Ocean.I came ashore for good in 1981/82.

Later got my Full Ham Licence and still enjoying every QSO,my favourite mode will always be CW.

Look forward to working you on the bands.

73s Bryan/G0GSY.
