Biography

Bredhurst Receiving and Transmitting Society are known as "BRATS", we operate from our club shack in the village of Bredhurst in Kent. Currently there are 51 members. We meet every thursday at the Parkwood Community Association. Our club was founded 30 Years ago. We have the calls G0BRC, G7BRC, and also raise money for the RNLI using GB0RNLI (which is active in January 2013). We also have a good web site, which also includes a training site for the 3 levels of the Radio Amateurs Examination in the U.K. All is available at http:\\www.brats-qth.org.
We enjoy operating and fun events. We have a BBQ each summer and enjoy many talks on the aspects of Amateur Radio from mostly club members that have accumulated a great amount of knowledge and experience.
Each year we run the BRATS Rainham Rally which is visited and enjoted by many amateurs in the South-East of England, and even from further afar.

We look forward to talking to you on the amateur bands.

Equipment

Operational on most bands 160 metres through to 70 cms from our club shack.
We normally run on HF, an IC-7400 with a Cushcraft A4S beam and 40m attachment on a mast with adjustable height. Amp is Acom 1010, and Palstar ATU.
For 2 metres we have Kenwood all mode radio and 12 element beam on the mast.
