Biography

I'm Simon, I've been doing professional radio since the 1980s and I recently got my amateur radio licence here in Ireland.

My 'blog is on https://www.ei3jdb.com/

My interest is construction and my ambition is to build my own HF transceiver, but I got impatient and bought a Kenwood TS-570D at a rally. That's now hooked up to my Pi with fldigi and wsjtx so I've been making lots of digital contacts.

I'm very slowly learning Morse with a straight key and you might hear me on air demonstrating how slow I am. Please be patient.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

Kenwood TS-570D with panadapter mod and RTL-SDR3
Baofeng UW-5RE

160m skyloop
2m vertical dipole

Lots of test gear, both bought and constructed, as I have had an electronics hobby since the late 1970s when I was in school.
