Biography

Greetings from Spain, thank you for reading me and for looking up my information in QRZCQ.com

My name is Rafael (Rafa for my friends).
I was born in 1976 in Sanlucar de Barrameda (Cadiz), in the mouth of Guadalquivir River, Southwest of Spain (Andalucia y OLE!).
I am married to a dark-haired and green eyes wonderful woman. We have a dalmatian called "Lola" who lives with us.

I began in the ham radio with only 10 years old, when my father gave me a CB Walkie-Talkie with only 2 channels (27 MHz) and then my callsign was "Mad Little Bird". Nowadays, some people still call me by that name.

I got my first licence EB7DSV in 1994 when I was 17 years old. In 2006 I upgraded to extra class with callsign EA7HOH.

I am Merchant Marine Radio Officer and I worked in Telefonica's Maritime Service (known as Radio Coastal Station) , in the Radio Maritime Communications Center based on Valencia city.

You can listen to me in all HF bands in SSB, CW and some digital modes.
I like the Spanish Contests, and the DX,s in which I am doing wonderful contacts with marvellous people.

Sometimes, I do my transmissions in REMOTE mode because of my job, using the DIGICAT cable and the HAM RADIO DELUXE and IP-SOUND softwares. Thank to EA7DLD for his disinterested help.

I use as logbook the EA6DDLog software. It's great, easy and free (only in Spanish Language).

NOTE: I maintain this website in English. Please bear in mind that English is not my native language, so mistakes are inevitable. Comments on spelling and/or grammar are always welcome. I´m willing to learn.
