| Biography Obtained my first license, Novice Class, in 1969 while living in Annapolis, Md. Then back in P.R., became KP4DIW and eventually, KP4KD, call sign of my grandfather, Everett (Pappy). Operated from Caracas, Venezuela as portable YV3 from 1983 to 1986. While in Weston, Ct., operated as portable W1 from 1987 to 1991, then as HC1YA in Quito, Ecuador from 1993 to 1995. Lived in Singapore from 1991 to 1993 but could not obtain a license while there. Operated from Bogota, Colombia as portable HK3 from 1995 to 1998, then as OA4DJN while in Lima, Peru from 1998 to 2003. Relocated to the U.S. in early 2003 operating as portable W4 from Key Largo, Fla. first with a Yaesu FT-890, then a Ten-Tec Corsair, an OMNI-VI and now a Kenwood TS-590S. Always with a vertical antenna, R7 and now an R8, 100' end fed long wire, now a 102' inverted V. I do miss my A-3S I used while overseas. Just completed the HexBeam project which is at 30' and enjoying it tremendously. Also have a 2M 5 element yagi and a 4 element yagi for 6M. You'll find me on PSK and RTTY as well.
