Biography

Built 20M regenerative rcvr in 1948. In 1950 Korean war started. I was trained as combat radioman by Oregon National Guard. I finally Joined U.S. Navy and trained as an Electronics Technition. On leaving active duty, I workded in Electronics field and felt hobby should not be same as occupation. I continued in Navy reserve and transfered to retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. Promoted to software design engineer in 1978 so sat for Novice license as WB7VGR. Went to Portland Oregon and got Technician License soon after. In 1981 or so FCC changed call to N6HOE. I was active on 2M and on MARS as NNN0WOB. Left for a 15 year RV trip all over USA and in 2009 went to an amatuer radio club meeting near Bellingham, Washington I found no meeting but took test for extra exam and passed. Change call to AE7SY in 2011. Now active in MARS as NNN0WOB and am now working on basics for geratol net.
I am married to Wanda and am father of 8 children, none of whom show any interest in ham radio. While I was on road as an RVer I traveled by moving every 2 to 3 weeks most of the time. Spent some time in Mississippi before getting a 5th wheel. Then travel east and west and north and south to see much of the country. In 2008 I stayed in Seattle vacinity while being treated for cancer at VA loving the area around Mt Vernon. The damp and mold of the forest was too much for Wanda, my wife, so we settled in Idaho.
