Biography
Greetings: Fairly new to Amateur Radio, but not new to radio communication.
I grew up as an SWL enthusiast, built several Heathkit receivers. Spent an entire career in the Military as a telecommunications systems/signals analyst (Tech Control), with the majority of my career station on remote mountain radio sites in Europe. For the past 20 years I have worked as a Telecommunications Design and Integration Engineer For the US Department of Defense.
I live in an HOA restricted community which limits my antenna choices. I have a Tilt-base vertical that is my primary low-band antenna, and I have a KIO Hexbeam on a Yaesu Rotor 20M and up. I made a Homebrew Eggbeater, and just starting to work LEO satellites, ISS, and download NOAA images.
My favorite Radio activity is DX! I prefer SSB Phone whenever possible, but spend a lot of time on FT8 due to the current poor propagation.
