Biography
Thank you for looking me up. My name is Paul. My previous callsign was M7PXR.
I live in Netherfield in Nottingham UK. Situated right down in the Trent Valley. Not ideal for getting the signal out there with being so low down, but I'm managing to make some good contacts on 2m so far! My current working condititons are:
CRT Micron UV 2m / 70cms transceiver, with the Comet GP-5 dual band antenna. This is mounted at gutter height (Approximately 18 feet from the ground) on a 5ft mast.
I have a clear line of sight path to the South and East, but my roof obstructs my path to the North and West.
Radio has been a passion of mine since the 1970's when my neighbour built me a Crystal Set Radio! This is where it all started. I spent many months after that building electronic projects with a new 'Science Fair 65 in 1' Electronics set back in the day, I was a passionate listener to good old AM radio and loved listening to Radio Luxembourg and Radio Caroline too. Great days!
My love of radio continued into my adult years, being hooked on broadcast FM propogation with Sporadic E and Tropospheric events being at the forefront of my interest. I am also a keen Shortwave listener, but my SW interest was held back somewhat due to so much interference from PLT.
I hope to work HF one day soon, but for now I am currently only working 2m and 70cm mainly due to space restrictions for an HF antenna, but that will be work in progress :)
I look forward to speaking with you soon.
73's from Paul. 2E0PXX.
