Biography

Hi I'm Mike

On the 17th December 2014 I Passed my Intermediate Exam, and got my license on the 30th Dec 2014.
Prior to that i was M3MTL, I was licensed in January 2003, before that i was mainly a SWL.

Once i got my M3 License I bought my first radio, That was a yeasu FT102 For HF
For 2m 70cm I was using a Hand Held, Standard C520.

But in 2007 I invested in a Yaesu FT-847 and a Watson WM-308 Microphone a G5RV and an antron 99, but as of 2011 i sold the 847

Now I'm using a Icom IC 725 For HF With a Kenwood MC50 Microphone.
For 2m I'm using a Trio/Kenwood TR9000 with a yeasu YD 148 Microphone.
For 70cm I'm using a Trio/Kenwood TR9500 With the same Yeasu YD 148 Microphone.

The Antenna for the 2m and 70cm Radio's, is a Dual Band Co-linear on the roof.
I recently acquired a boafeng UV5R, not bad little radios for the price, but filtering and rejection is virtualy none existent. so i can only use it mobile while im in work Mainly on the 70Cm Band

Alongside the Hobby, I also like messing about with the old Classic CB Radios from the 1980s, fixing them and making them look good. as well as other electronic equipment.

Now that SSB and AM modes are legal on the 27mhz (Mid Band), I occasionally have a little Go on the Newly established Networks

UPDATE: 18th March 2016
Have now just acquired a Yeasu FT 900
