Biography

Hello, my name is Brendan and I live in the county of Lincolnshire NE England UK. (Locator JO-03-cb)

I am married with three children, with foster children joining us from time to time. I was retired from work in 2006 on grounds of ill health, suffering with brittle diabetes, also being insulin intolerant.

Because of this and my enforced retirement, I became interested in all forms of radio communications once again. Neuropathy has new taken over, and my hands and legs are in a bad way, also the neuropathy has now infiltrated the stomach that has caused all sorts of problems in the gut, which includes gastroparesis. Hypo`s are also a very big problem but we keep on smiling and Amateur Radio at times has been my saviour and helped to keep my sanity.

My wife and I have been foster carers for or local authority for over 15 years and I have enjoyed every moment of it. I have taken a lot out of society since I have been ill so it is nice to be able to put something back .

I am member of the Royal Signals Amateur Radio Society no 3991, and I would be very happy to arrange a sked and then confirm the QSO with you via the bureau, but for any other contact confirmation, please send direct to my home address

I would have liked to have been able to construct or build my own equipment but due to neuropathy in the hands, my soldering is something an arc welder would be proud of so I leave well alone and build or try to build antennas instead, some are good, some are bad (mostly the latter) but it`s fun constructing them and keeps me out of mischief which also keeps the wife happy. More recently, I started to make models both woodern and plastic, so a small area of the radio room is given up to this activity. I have now got all the peices for Captain Cook`s Endeavour and I have started collecting Sovereign Of The Seas. It`s very enjoyable putting them together
