Biography
Hello, thank you for the visit, much appreciated.
For me it is a joy to work QRP - at the outset I need to thank you for listening out for me, I realise that the operators on the receiving end have to specially pick out my weaker signal from the "Thousand Watters". I do however know from experience that QRP is quite do-able. I have had wonderful 2 way QRP contacts where I could not tell that the other operator was also running QRP.
The radio I use most is the Elecraft K3 with a homebrew New Carolina Windom (80m cut) multiband antenna. I am very pleased with the K3/Windom combination. My standby radio is the Icom IC-735.
To date I have validated 165 LOTW ARRL DXCC countries using the K3 running 5 Watts into this antenna. I also achieved the All Africa award sponsored by the SARL soon after the DXCC, also with 5 Watts.
99.9% of my contacts are done CW, JT-65 or JT-9 these days. After achieving my 5 Watt goals of CW DXCC and All Africa awards I upgraded the K3 to 100 Watts and you will now often hear a stronger signal coming from ZS6EA.
QSL exchange is possible with LoTW, eQSL, QRZ, Clublog, Bureau or Direct. Please note that I do not collect QSL cards, if you do need my card, use Clublog OQRS or simply send me an e-mail request and I will send via the Bureau (not prefered as it is a time wasting exersize).
LoTW: My preferred method. I upload 100% of my QSOs to LoTW, usually within the same day. If you are not a LoTW user, please set up an account. It is the most fantastic system for quickly confirming QSO's.
eQSL: My second choice, I am an AG user on eQSL. I upload my logs usually within the same day. If you are not an eQSL user, please set up an account.
My logs are also updated to QRZ and Clublog, please set up an account with these, it will make your life a lot easier.
