Biography
Active since the 1950's. I was in the Royal Air Force as a Ground Wireless Mechanic. Stationed at RAF Locking and RAF Valley in the UK. Then worked at 101 signals Unit RAF Jever West Germany. Then posted to RAF Gatow TX station, in Berlin during the Cold War.
Now live in South Africa and was licenced here in 1979.
I work the Digital and SSB, HF, VHF & UHF bands.
I held for 5 years the South African record for Long distance SSB VHF with a distance of 3020KM - ZS2ABF to FR5DN on Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean, with an 8 element Yagi horizontaly polerized and only 10Watts (The inversion was very strong that night).The video can be seen on You Tube
On the digital bands I like working SSTV on 14.230 USB.

Antennas = HF Horizontal Loop 3-29 MHz. VHF - Folded Dipole, JPole, 8 Element Yagi(horz). UHF - Dicky Bow.
