Biography
Grew up in Manchester, Connecticut where I was an active SWL and CB'er in the late '60s and early '70s. Moved to Indiana where I originally held Novice Class licenses WD9DWT (1979) and KA9KNI (1981). Became active again in 2020 (KD9PUR).
Was a broadcast engineer for both radio and television stations, having once held an FCC 1st Class Radiotelephone License. As an electrical engineer I worked in the consumer electronics industry for both Thomson (RCA) and Philips (Magnavox). Also worked as an in-home TV service technician.
I have an antenna garden in the attic consisting of 2m and 70cm ground plane antennas, 17m dipole, 20m dipole, and a 40m dipole (illustrated below) that uses a Shark S-FM40 Hamstick mobile antenna as one of the dipole elements. A 15m dipole is under construction.
I also have Echolink on my smartphone.
Equipment
I use a Yaesu FT-991A, and I love it!
