Biography

Hello to every amateur radio operator in the world welcome to my Qrz page; name is Joe but real name is Jose Antonio Díaz Rivera ((Joe for short)). I was born and raised in the city Guayama, Puerto Rico, known as the city of the witches "El Pueblo de los Burjos". Guayama was founded in January 29, 1736. the name of Guayama came for the native of Puerto Rico the Tainos, in the Tainos Dialect "It's means great place" in Spanish sitio grande also is the home of the Cacique Guayama (( Cacique means Chief )). The city of Guayama is located at latitude 17° 59′ 37″ N longitude 66° 7′ 51″ W approx 1 hr and 15 min south from capital of San Juan and 45 min east from Ponce. I Graduated from Rafael Lopez Landron High school. I grow up with my grand-parents. After my grand- parents die, I join my dad in New York in in the fall of 1984. In the winter of 1987 February 14 Saint Valentine day I meet my soul mate, we are still married for 36 years we got 3 beautiful kid all grown up. I used to be OTR Professional commercial driver and driver instructor now retire, and also hold a pilot license with a instrument, multi-engine and a commercial rating. my extreme sport I don't do any more do to a and a back injury and medical condition called transverse myelitis. (transverse myelitis cause me nerve problems in the lower extremities It means Coastally lower back pain, balance problem and walking disorder in other can cause partial or total paralysis). Ok my extreme sport Sky Diving no drug can be a adrenaline rush, rock climbing pure concentration agility and strength and more adrenaline. Mountain bike and race bike, and finally Scuba diving oh yeah relaxing beneath the waves yeees, it nothing more impressive the watching the coral reef dolphin and shark you self the watching it in TV, I miss all that, but everything happen for a reason. But I trade the adrenaline rush for astronomy, Astro, macro photography and ham radio, also I enjoy playing Electric and acoustic bass guitar and others instrument like the congas, bongos, djembe, steel drums, maracas, cabasa, panderos pleneras better knows as pleneros tambourine, steel guira (better known as Dominican guira) and the classic Puertorican guiro with my son the he is also a ham, his call sign KD2GTY he play the electric and acoustic guitar and saxophone he enjoy playing classic rock, hard rock and country music and jazz. me I enjoy play salsa, cumbia and merengue and what ever got good rhythm no matter which country, in my culture music is the universal language. I my youth I use to be a DJ, easy way to make extra money during the weekends, Also have a associate as a sound engineer from University of Iowa, bachelor's degree in Business and PHD in aviation from University of Oklahoma, but my heart was set in aviation and professional driving I like to travel and meet people and other culture. I like what I do no regrets I'm still a member of the Yonkers PAL Ham radio Club ( YARCKidz ) and Westchester Amateur Radio Club up in New York also I'm a VE and ARECC Field Examiner as well. Now retire living in the Sunshine state of Florida.
