Biography

W7CAP

Well where do I start, how about the begining. Being an Army brat I was born in Madigan General Army Hospital at Ft. Lewis, Washington USA. Lucky enough to live Germany for 5 years but primarly Centeral coast of California and graduated from Seaside High School in Seaside, California. Then moving on to my time in the U S Navy (1975-1981) as an Engineman second class (EN2). My hitch in the Navy took me to Guam and San Diego, Ca. other locations where Great Lakes, Ill., Groton, Conn. and Charleston, So. Carolina. After my seperation from the Navy I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and became a slot machine mechanic, one of the best jobs I have ever had. I worked at the King 8 Casino. Fitzgerald Casino, Golden Nugget Casino and finished out that chapter of my life at the Mint Casino where I meet my second and current wife of 21 years. I then moved back to heavy equipment repair. I worked on alot of yellow junk and about 5 years ago I moved into a management position, enough of that.

I got my Tech ticket in 2010, my General about a year later and I took and passed my Extra ticket on Jan 7, 2012. My orginal call was KF7KCJ.

My first wife gave my a beautiful daughter, Tasha and she gave me a grandson, Owen all living in Texas. "That's right all my ex's live in Texas".

On the radio I enjoy SSB DXing, contesting and just ragchewing, UHF-VHF I enjoy ragchewing and on digital I enjoy PSK-31 on all bands and plan to try JT-65 and CW now that I have my Extra ticket. The next upgrade is the antenna, I'm going to hang it in a palm tree about 40 feet or so. It should get out better.

Equipment

My current radio gear is Kenwood TS-2000 in the shack with a Buckmaster OCF 7 band Dipole about 30 foot up, My mobile rig a 1984 Jeep CJ-7 will be Yaesu FT-857D into a screwdriver antenna and the HT is a Yaesu VX8dr with a mirage dual band amp into a Diamond 770 antenna in the company car.

73 for now,

Cary
