| Biography I have been a Ham since 1975 thanks to my uncle, K1ZEK, who was my elmer. My first license was a novice, WN1YQI, running CW only on HF with a Heathkit DX60B transmitter, a Hammerlund HQ170 receiver, a homemade transfer switch , a Johnson Matchbox into a 80 meter dipole. When I upgraded to Technician my call was WA1YQI.
I upgraded to General and changed my call to W1HAF. I love tinkering with electronics, computers and trying all modes. I operate on HF, VHF, UHF, APRS, and Packet. I use VHF/UHF D-Star and DMR Mototrbo digital modes. I have recently experimented with HSMM-MESH NET putting up a node and setting up a network with two other nodes using old Linksys WRT54GS WiFi routers.
My home station is an Icom 756 proII, with a 130' centerfed dipole and Gap Challenger vertical. I use an Icom 706 with separate hamsticks for each band when I am mobile.
See you on the air!
73 Harrison
