Biography
I have been licensed since 1970 and hold an advanced license with a 12 WPM CW endorsement.
Due to work and school my activity has been often sporadic but I have been fully active since 1995 and now I am on the air on an almost daily basis.
My favorite mode is PSK31 and I enjoy chasing DX using that mode, primarily on 10 and 15 meters.
I also use CW and SSB on HF on occasion, though limited to continental contacts having limited antenna capability and only 100 watts of power.
I am a member of the Central Toronto Amateur radio club and I will be assisting in the teaching new members get their Basic radio licenses this spring.
Equipment
My station is based on the Yaesu FT897D, which I find is an excellent radio for CW and PSK31 operation.
I am in the process of raising a 45 Ft tower on top of which I will place a Comet 250 non-radial vertical antenna. This will replace an Alpha Delta Sloper.
