Biography

Hello, My name is Michel (Mike),

I studied physics at UofM (Montréal) and communication and radar systems at CFSCEE (CFB Kingston) and CFSATE (CFB Borden). I have been licensed in 2006 with basic, advanced and cw qualification, altough this was some sort of late in my life my interest for ham radio dates back from my youngster's life.

I am using a Yaesu FTdx10 and an FT-991A, a 6BTV ground mount vertical antenna for dx, a DX-DD 80/40m dipole mounted as an inverted V at 12m height for local operation.

I do some SSB and mostly FT8 for now, from time to time I use JS8Call and FreeDV.

I am running WSJT-X latest stable and GridTracker on Ubuntu 24.04.

I am also experimenting with devices such as RSPdx, redpitaya board and HackRF-One, using Pavel Demin's redpitaya notes, F4EXB's SDRangel GQRX from Alexandru Csete OZ9AEC, GNU Radio and PothosFLow.
