Biography

I have been a ham since the beginning of the 70’s and still enjoy the fact that I have the best hobby of them all. After studies at the University of Stockholm, the Swedish Institute of Film and Berghs School of Communications, I have been working as a journalist for almost 20 years, mostly for magazines and newspapers but also for the commercial radio. In 1996 I wanted to change path and today I work as a full-time photojournalist. Between 2005 and 2009 I worked for New York based World Picture News (WpN), stationed in Cambodia and other countries in S/E Asia. Unfortunately WpN didn't survive the economic turmoil in late 2008 and today I'm a contracted contributor to Scanpix Sweden Ltd (AP, AFP and Reuters). A wide range of Swedish and international newspapers and magazines are other image buyers. In September 2010 I released the photo book The Dump at the Gothenburg Book Fair, a 120 page coffee table book with a large number of Black and White pictures showing what happens when large parts of the global aid doesn't reach the ones it was intended for - the children of Cambodia. In 2011 I released my second photo book called Ryd, with high quality artistic B/W pictures from one of Sweden's last graveyards for old cars. I have also released a coffee table book about the 2007 DX-peditition to Saint Brandon. The title is "3B7C" and can be found on Amazon.com - or by contacting me via my email peppe@peppearninge.com.

DX-peditions?
Well, I have been very active as XU7ADI, HS0ZFI, 9M6/SM5GMZ, 9M8/SM5GMZ and 6V7F, when not operating from my home in Sweden, Contests and Low Bands are my favourites. I was also a team member of the 2007 DX-pedition to Saint Brandon (3B7C), an adventure that ended with more than 138,000 QSO's in the log. The Asian DX-peditions, during my photographic assignments, have put more than 50,000 QSOO's in the logs. So far...
